Gearbox design platform · Beta

Design with every number accounted for

From a single specification to gear train sizing, rating, layout, bearings, shafts and casing — in one project. Every calculation follows ISO/DIN procedures, and every factor appears in the report with its name, unit and origin.

How Evoluta works

Standards, verbatim

The implementation is checked equation-by-equation against the source documents: the full ISO 6336 Method B procedure, every DIN 743 factor, VDI 2230 R0–R13 — the standard's equations, not shortcuts.

The drawing is the model

The canvas is a true-scale drawing that is also the calculation model. Drag a shaft and the layout changes; the new layout re-runs rating, bearing life and shaft deflection. No separate picture and calculation.

The report is the product

Not just symbols and results: every factor carries its name, unit, intermediate values and the clause it comes from — a report a reviewer can follow by hand.

Integrated design

Gearbox design canvas

A true-scale drawing that is the calculation model — drag a shaft and rating (ISO 6336), bearing life (ISO 281), shaft deflection and the contact pattern (LTCA) recompute. 3D, section cuts, deflection view; details open in the specialist tools docked alongside. Edits are auto-saved.

Spec → draft

Enter power, speed and target ratio — a full draft (gear train sizing, bearings, layout) appears right on the canvas. Same engine, same report.

Gears

Gear geometry

Dimensions, DIN 3967 backlash, inspection dimensions (over pins, span), plus hob / form-wheel generation simulation for the real tooth form down to root and chamfer.

Planetary trains

Assembly and adjacency checks, profile-shift inversion, tip-clearance verdicts, mesh animation.

Gear rating (ISO 6336)

SH and SF, full Method B — load factors, ISO 6336-5 allowable stresses, S-N life interpolation.

Cycloidal drives

Epitrochoid profile, pin contact stress, crank bearing life (ISO 281 / TS 16281).

Shafts & connections

Shaft strength (DIN 743)

Static and fatigue safety with shoulder, keyway and snap-ring notches — the complete factor procedure.

Interference fits & keys (DIN 7190 · 6892)

Shrink-fit pressure, transmissible torque, assembly temperature and parallel-key bearing stress in one flow — the key carries what friction cannot.

Involute splines (DIN 5480)

Geometry, tolerances, inspection and shear/wear/burst torque capacity — standard series and free geometry on the same screen.

Bolted joints (VDI 2230)

Preload, stress, slip, fatigue, tightening torque — the full R0–R13 procedure.

System & operation

Thermal rating (AGMA ISO 14179-1)

Heat balance of losses and dissipation — thermal power rating and predicted equilibrium oil temperature.

Lubrication circuits

Required flow from heat at each point, then a 1-D network solve for the actual distribution.

Oil drain holes

Drainability of housing drain holes, judged in millimetres of head.

NVH analysis

Shaft critical speeds against mesh and bearing excitation on a Campbell diagram — resonance screening and frequency diagnosis.

Rotor balancing (ISO 21940-11)

Permissible residual unbalance per quality grade, correction-plane allocation, influence-coefficient field balancing.

How we verify

We never just write “checked” — a verification you cannot reproduce is not a verification. Every item records what was compared, against what, and how.

Against the source text

Formulas are compared term by term against the standard's clauses. Example: ISO 6336-1 tooth stiffness c′ — all nine Table 13 coefficients match to every digit.

Against closed-form solutions

Where an analytical solution exists, the numerical result is compared directly. Example: Timoshenko beam mid-span deflection — 0.000 % deviation.

Against invariants

Relations that must hold regardless of implementation — units, limits, monotonicity — are enforced by automated tests.

1,600+automated regression tests, re-run on every change
Tests gate deploymenta version that fails any test never reaches the server
Errata kepterrors found in literature during comparison are recorded with evidence

Currently in beta

During the beta, everything is free after sign-up — verify your e-mail and start. Note: the application UI is currently in Korean; an English interface is on the roadmap. The calculations and reports follow international standards regardless of language. When paid plans arrive we will announce in advance, and projects and reports created during the beta will be preserved.

Calculations on this platform assist design review; final engineering judgement remains the designer's responsibility.
